The International Development and Policy Corporation (IDPC) is a global social enterprise which believes that there are sufficient resources and knowledge to solve some of the current pressing and unmet societal needs.

We aim to create social wealth and complement existing capacity building efforts through alliances, partnerships and new innovative solutions to the vital problems of global health, education and poverty reduction.

We certainly believe the necessary tools, goodwill, resources and technologies are available and that there is great promise for new technologies which if used well will boost the African continent’s development efforts.

We also believe that there is currently a rare alignment of different interests not only in alleviation of human suffering in the developing world but also an African renaissance, and are proud to make a contribution.

Our current and future initiatives include:

Medical – At IDPC, we firmly believe that good public health is the foundation block of any nation’s development, and a critical factor in sustainable economic (and political) development. We also believe that acute global health challenges need new innovative cross sector partnerships between individuals, the public, private and non-profit sectors. Through active alliances and partnerships we aim to work with local ‘in-country’ experts to develop locally and contextually relevant solutions to medical capacity issues. more >>>
Diaspora – At IDPC, we argue that every hour a returning expert puts into any of our, or other, initiatives goes some way towards mitigating the effects of the intellectual brain drain as they would have otherwise spent that elsewhere in their Western host and home countries. We have also embarked on an ambitious and concerted effort aimed at harnessing the vast intellectual wealth found within the African Diaspora through a comprehensive global internet based proprietary database that maps the various talents and skills, i.e., supply-side resources onto areas of need, i.e., demand-side.
Economy – At IDPC, we are acutely aware of the continent’s urgent need for a greater business engagement and stimulation of local economies both which can play crucial roles not in only in lifting individuals but also whole communities out of poverty. We shall consequently constantly seek ways to mobilise resources that address this need whether through technological partnerships that create new market support infrastructures and opportunities or enabling business school trained Diaspora members to easily help when back home.
Education – At IDPC, we strongly believe in the transformative power of education and its vital role in improving people’s incomes and livelihoods. We will therefore explore, and engage in, ways that encourage cross-fertilization of ideas and activities amongst the many individuals and institutions that must come to bear on complex educational challenges facing the developing world.
Policy – At IDPC, we know that policy engagement is vital. We will thus engage with key policy and decision makers in order to advocate for a sustainable developmental agenda that sometimes looks at new and innovative methodologies. Indeed, we intend to take advantage of the current rare alignment of different group’s interests in the continent’s development.
